The career of Francis Reed has been highlighted by one phrase: love of teaching!  Mr. Reed is a graduate from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Education.  Said education prepared Mr. Reed for his career, which has spanned more than 27 years as a band director and music educator.

As a band director, Mr. Reed has had a stellar career, helping several of his students place in various competitions and at the state level.  The various bands that Mr. Reed directed won several awards and at one point in time, he was honored as the “most outstanding” band director in Houston, along with two other recipients.

Mr. Reed has also had a wonderful solo career, in which he was selected to perform during the halftime ceremonies of a televised football game between the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints.  Mr. Reed also performed solo works with trumpet great Clark Terry and the Duke Ellington Band.  Mr. Reed also performed with bassist and now national celebrity (due to American Idol fame) Randy Jackson and with saxophonist Wessal Anderson (of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra).  Mr. Reed has also performed with Branford Marsalis, the O Jays, Joe Simon, Bobby Bland, Percy Sledge and Kirk Whalum.
