Special Classes

We are in constant development of classes and courses that we feel will

benefit the students of CRCM, and of the Katy area in general.  Therefore,

we ask that you visit this page often to see what we are currently offering,

or working on!

CONTEMPORARY VOCAL TECHNIQUE

Emphasis on vocal health, strength and stamina, flexibility and range,

style and microphone technique, and repertoire building.

Styles covered include jazz, standard pop, swing, bossa and ballads.  The study

of Broadway, theatre and selected contemporary Christian music will be offered.

Students may choose from these suggested styles for voice study

(all songs must be approved and sheet music/lead sheets available...

no karaoke)

All students will be required to learn how to read music well enough to follow

band charts and lead sheets, and with time, enough piano to be able to play

their own melody lines to facilitate new song learning.

Lessons can be recorded live on CD each week so that students may mark their

progress.  From time to time we will have Student Showcases so that everyone can

practice singing for an audience.

The study of music build self confidence, responsibility and self discipline.

Your voice is an instrument.  Singers who know how to use their voices can

look forward to a satisfying lifetime of making beautiful music!

PAGEANT PREPARATION

While observing individuals prepare for a pageant, especially young girls, it is not

unusual to see that they have poor stage presence, and that they have

selected a song (if singing is their talent) which is too difficult or not age appropriate.

We at CRCM can help you or your child develop their stage presence and

talent portion for their upcoming pageant.  We can assist in song selection for

vocalists and instruct on how to best perform the selection.

In essence, we work as your talent coach!

Come and see, hear, and understand how we can help you prepare for your next pageant!

and connections between the music performed during historical periods

from the Middle Ages to the present.

The course will be complete with a student textbook.  Students will leave this course,

which will be paced for one semester, with a basic musical vocabulary,

knowledge of some of the great musicians of past eras such as

Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky, and connections with music

from listening to examples of music from the Middle Ages

through the present.
