Piano Lessons in Katy TX
As The Conservatory of Music in Katy, most people believe we only teach the classical literature of the piano. We’re happy to report that this is not true! Although our instructors understand the importance of studying classical piano music, they also enjoy teaching their assigned students other musical genres such as pop, jazz, rock! Simply put, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. Our piano teachers are very friendly and enjoy sharing their love of the piano with you!
Do You Need a Real Piano?
Now, do you need to have a real, acoustic piano to have lessons with us? No, not really. Of course, the ideal would be to have an acoustic piano at home before starting lessons, but if you don’t have a real piano, you can absolutely start lessons with our piano teachers by using an electric keyboard initially. We recommend a keyboard that has regular sized keys and a touch sensitive response. A touch sensitive keyboard means that the harder you press a key, the louder it will play…consequently, the lighter you press a key, the softer it will play. If possible, a keyboard with 88 keys (same like a real piano) is ideal, however, a keyboard with 64 or 76 keys can still work, although it will present minor challenges as the student progresses.
So, in summary, to have the best success in piano lessons with us, look for the following things in a keyboard:
1. 88 keys is preferable
2. Sustain Pedal (when you continue to hold it down, you continue to hear the sound)
3. Touch sensitive keys (when you press harder, it sounds louder; when you press lightly, it sounds quieter)

One of the original instructors of The Conservatory, Mr. Reed has been teaching for us since the day we opened our doors in 2007. A former band director with almost 30 years experience teaching in the public school system, Mr. Reed has a Masters degree and is loved by all of his students!
Grace has a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Houston and has been teaching for 28 years. Ms. Grace looks forward to teaching your children!
Mark is one of our more senior instructors, having been with The Conservatory now for several years! With a Masters degree in music, Mark is very experienced in teaching both vocal and piano instruction. Your children will enjoy learning from Mark!
Gabriel is currently working on his degree in Piano Performance from University of Houston Moores School of Music under the Studio of Timothy Hester. He was with the National Conservatory of Peru for 4 years, and looks forward to working with you or your child.
Originally from China, Ms. Serena began studying piano at the age of 4, and by the age of 16, had passed her grade 10 examination. While attending college, she performed in classical and jazz events. Her favorite musician is Chopin. Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, Ms. Serena looks forward to working with your child! Sign up with her today!

Originally born in Cuba, Loanny got her bachelor degree in Piano from the conservatory in Cali, Colombia. She has many awards, including 2009: Winner of Young Soloists Competition. She is active as a performer and accompanist for soloists and ensembles of a wide variety of genres. Register your child with Ms. Loanny today!
James hold both a bachelors and a masters degree in music from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston.
Ms. Martha has a Masters Degree from the Fines Arts Conservatory of Colombia, in Oboe and English Horn, and at the same time studied piano with the best teachers in her country.
Ms. Yamile was born in Cuba and began her musical studies at the age of 7 in vocational schools of art. She studied for 12 years in the specialties of violin, piano and music theory.
Originally from a small town in Arizona, Jenni comes to us with over 10 years of musical training and many years of teaching. Ms. Jenni enjoys teaching children the many reasons music can bring happiness into their lives and help them with their future.
Mr. Farzad “Fred”
Fred comes to us with incredible credentials, including having owned and having been the conductor of the largest symphony orchestra in Iran. Ms. Joy – Piano, Guitar
Ms. Joy has enjoyed being an instructor at top music schools in Los Angeles, California, including Macy Gray Music Academy and LAMA, and gives workshops at Taylor High School in Katy. Her performing career has spanned 3 decades as touring and recording musician with Grammy winning artists. Joy is a multi-instrumentalist, proficient on piano, electric and string bass, and guitar. She is an instructor in many music styles and is a noted teacher of jazz.
